Bill Dryden brings his 37 years of professional experience to his role as principal for Forest Resources Affairs LLC.  His background includes working ten years in public lands management with the Oregon Department of Forestry and 24 years with Boise Cascade in a variety of land management and executive positions.  In his most recent position, Bill was Boise’s Director of Forest Resources Affairs where he led the development and implementation of natural resources environmental policies and environmental management systems including forest certification.  He successfully lead Boise through two third party audits of sustainable forestry practices on 2.2 million acres of US forestlands and over 30 manufacturing facilities.  He created environmental communications programs to support sales and marketing programs and directly interacted with a wide range of customers, environmental groups, financial institutions and others interested in environmental performance.

Bill is a leader in the US forest industry’s ongoing efforts to develop and implement realistic state and federal forest regulations and policies.  Working with his peers, this work has resulted in a clear understanding of agency processes and a lengthy list of agency and legislative contacts.  He knows his way around Washington, DC and the halls of state capitols, but knows the effective way to get results is interacting with agency staff to develop workable solutions.

Bill also has long running experiences in managing private forestlands, conducting land exchanges and implementing land sales programs.  Beyond forest management, his technical expertise includes water quality management, forest fire provention programs, environmental communications, fish and wildlife habitat and forest planning.  In addition to his expertise on private forestlands, Bill has a strong working knowledge of both federal and state forestlands programs.

This background and set of experiences and Bill’s extensive network of contacts with government agencies, environmental groups, industry peers, technical experts, trade associations and others now supports Forest Resources Affairs’ clients as they work to cost effectively address their objectives.
